| Flying Bird in Reeds Sculpture |
$32.00 |
In the style of Curtis Jere, this unsigned mid century piece in welded metal depicts a flying bird, reeds and lily pads, mounted on a large piece of volcanic stone.
This is a very striking work, slightly rustic but with great presence. The reeds hit together when moved, with an appealing bell-like note.
I believe this is probably the work of Cole Creations of Houston, who created many similar quality pieces from brass and copper during the 1970s.
Dimensions: Measures 22" tall.
Condition: In very good vintage condition. There are small areas on the lily pads where gold paint has worn off and the occasional light scratch to the metal. The wire support for the bird may have been slightly bent from its original position. The bottom has had felt applied.
