Glass Insulator Decorative Set $12.00

Used to insulate the signal in telephone exchange phone lines until the 1950s, Hemingray Number 12 glass insulators measure 3.5" tall and just over 2.25" in diameter across the base. Hemingray Number 9 insulators are very slightly taller and thinner and were used in rural telephone systems around the same time.

This is a set of two Number 12 insulators (one turquoise, one clear) and three turquoise Number 9s. They are very similar and go together well.

Insulators are quirky little collectibles which make great decoration (try on a window ledge where they will catch the light), paperweights or even bookends. Grouped together they make a unique decor arrangement, especially relevant to an eclectic or industrial decor, but really they look great just about anywhere...

Dimensions: Each measures approximately 3.5" tall and 3.25" in diameter across the base.

Condition: All in very good vintage condition. Most have a scratch or a shallow chip or two somewhere but nothing major. Because they were never meant to be decorative items they will sometimes also have mold marks and other manufacturing flaws.
