This simple little Japanese Kokeshi doll has a long thin body and painted on kimono, with the addition of a ribbon sash, tied and nailed behind. She has a smiley face and is unmarked, very likely a vintage tourist piece.
A great little folk art figurine. Keep her handy on your desk or in the nursery - she won't fail to cheer you up!
Kokeshi dolls, which originate in Northern Japan, are handmade from seasoned wood, with a simple body, large head and only a few painted lines for a face. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs.
Dimensions: Measures just under 5" high.
Condition: In very good vintage condition, she does have a slight dent to her head as seen in the photos.
