This large acrylic on canvas is South East Asian in origin and signed in Chinese. It depicts a barefoot young woman, who looks to be mending a net.
She is only slightly Asian in appearance, wearing a sarong and handkerchief top.
This was likely painted for the souvenir market, which in no way diminishes its folksy charm! It is signed in Chinese and dated 97.11 .
Dimensions: Measures 38.5" long by 34.75" wide, plus a canvas border of approximately 1" all around.
Condition: In excellent condition. I can find no faults in the paint. It has been removed from its stretchers and stored rolled - it will need to be restretched for display.
